Nursery pupils planning for future after careers day

PUPILS at Damson Wood Nursery and Infant School looked to their future and got hands on with possible careers.
The youngsters were joined by fire fighters, a nurse, paramedics, an engineer from Jaguar Land Rover, a
musician, an animal carer and canine photographer, and police officers who visited the school to tell children about their jobs in the hope to inspire them.
The children were also able to explore an ambulance, police car and fire truck, as well as trying on uniform and exploring equipment used by these professionals as they celebrated the school first Ambition Week. During the week, the children also talked about what they would like to do when they are older and what skills and values they may have to demonstrate in order to get their dream job.
Headteacher, Emily Hughes said: “At Damson Wood, one of our core values is to be ambitious.
“We encourage children to challenge themselves and to aim high in order to reach their own potential, both in learning and beyond. “The children were really inspired by the visitors who came to Damson Wood during this special week and we are very grateful for the time and enthusiasm given by these busy people in our community.”
