  • The fledglings have flown!

    Mon 22 May 2017
Over the last couple of days, our nine baby blue tits have been bravely leaving their nest for the first time. We managed to catch a video of the very last chick considering leaving today which you can watch here. We hope a bird will decide to nest at Damson Wood next year!
  • The Flying Potter

    Thu 18 May 2017

What an amazing experience for the children in KS1 who spent the day with Jon the Flying Potter. After a really exciting presentation in assembly demonstrating how the potter’s wheel works and learning lots about the properties of clay and how to use it, each class had a workshop with Jon. Our children did some hand-modelling to produce pieces of a damson tree to contribute to a giant Damson Wood logo for our 50th anniversary celebrations. Thank you to everyone for their support in raising funds to pay towards this experience and the materials, and to Mrs Stoneman for organising such a memorable treat for the pupils at Damson Wood. A Year 1 pupil told Miss Hughes, ‘This is the best day of my life!’ – what high praise!

  • Bird nesting at Damson Wood!

    Fri 12 May 2017
We were so excited when a Blue Tit decided to nest in our bird box. She has laid nine eggs which have now hatched. The chicks are being well fed by their busy mum and are now getting larger and have feathers. We are wondering how long it will be until they fly away! Click here to see our photos and videos.
  • Touchwood Escalator Competition

    Wed 10 May 2017

This week, we were very proud of Keira and Mia-Rose who were presented with Highly-Commended prizes at Touchwood Shopping Centre on Wednesday. They each designed posters about escalator safety and were awarded £10 Touchwood gift cards for their efforts! Their posters can now be seen at the bottom of the escalators within the shopping centre so look out for them and stay safe. A huge congratulations to both children who were the only two infant pupils recognised within the 11 prize-winners out of over 200 entries from across Solihull – an incredible achievement!
